Aling Nene's Special Binalot in Carmona

The feeling is nostalgic,...

I brought my friend from Sta. Cruz, Laguna last Sunday for him to #ExperienceCarmona.

My personalized tour started (with a brief history about our town and the Sorteo while strolling around the side streets of the main town), with (of course) #FoodTripping. Yey! :D I asked him to #TryBinalot, so I lead him to meet and greet one of the icons of Carmona, which is  #AlingNene...

When I was a Kid, I am always checking if my "binalot' has salt underneath. grin emoticon

Since 1989, Aling Nene's Special Binalot here in our Town has been a popular comfort food among travelers and local residents. A special binalot is a complete meal, hot rice, tomato, an egg, and viand included, wrapped in banana leaves. The binalot bears witness to a time when food containers had yet to be invented, and local farmers and other folks went to work with their packed lunch wrapped in such leaves. :)

The facade... At first glimpse, no one will think that this store has been here for Years, and been witness to Carmonas' rich heritage and tradition.

Among Aling Nene's many choices of special binalot, the most commonly ordered is her adobo. Unlike the regular dark brown adobo (marinated chicken or pork), Aling Nene's is colored orange from the added achuete seeds and served with a tomato and hard-boiled egg. Tucked in between two layers of banana leaves are pinches of salt, should the customer want a saltier adobo.
As of current times, this little store sells almost 350 pieces of "wrapped Gifts" everyday. (Imagine that) :)

These gifts are just at the right time to be opened.
 Run for the Menu!
I actually never planned to do this, but... the nostalgia will not be completed without throwing your spoon and fork and start eating using with your bare hands. XD

His final Verdict:

Carmona's Binalot= 11 Stars (out of 10 Stars actually) XD As I've expected! Haha!
